Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Chestnut Posts

Our chestnut posts are made from the wood of the sweet chestnut tree (Castanea sativa). Chestnut is naturally a durable wood species that can be used outdoors without any treatment. Because the wood contains tannins, it has a high resistance to moisture and fungi.

An Ecological Wood Choice

Choosing untreated chestnut posts means you’re not harming the environment. Additionally, we source our wood from forests managed under sustainable forestry practices. Chestnut belongs to durability class 2, which means a chestnut post will remain in good condition for 15 to 20 years even when in contact with the ground. This makes it an excellent alternative to European softwoods—which require chemical treatment—and tropical hardwoods.

Features and Dimensions of Our Chestnut Posts

Naturae’s chestnut posts are machine-debarked, pointed, and untreated. Because they are debarked, they retain their natural shape, so the posts are not always perfectly straight. The typical deviation is about 1 cm per meter. We only offer fresh posts that we store in dry conditions. Did you know that the later natural greying of chestnut wood perfectly complements oak, robinia, or acacia?

Our extensive stock includes the following sizes:

• Diameter 6 to 8 cm, lengths: 1.50m - 1.60m (round and split), 1.80m, 2m, 2.5m

• Diameter 8 to 10 cm, lengths: 1.80m, 2m, 2.5m

• Diameter 10 to 12 cm, lengths: 1.80m, 2m, 2.5m, 3m

• Diameter 12 to 14 cm, lengths: 1.80m, 2m, 2.5m, 3m

• Diameter 15 to 17 cm, lengths: 2m, 2.5m
